The Bahia Temple Keystone Kops were organized  as a Unit under the jurisdiction and within the Statutes of Bahia Temple on May 1, 1969.

The original charter members were: Martin J. Blair, Dean A. Mitchell, V. Albert Janoska, Robert Taylor, Evan F. Thomas, Gus Thomopalos and Walter A. Traister.

 Evan F. Thomas was elected as the first director and Dean A. Mitchell as the first president.

The charter was presented to the Kops by Illustrious Sir James Mott, Potentate of Egypt Temple and a Keystone Kop of many years. Bahia Potentate was Illustrious Sir Lloyd A. Castle.
